The High Commission of India confirmed that, from Saturday, UK tourists will be able to apply for the e-Tourist visa. This will undoubtedly simplify the process for UK applicants as visitors can now apply online for a 30 day visa.
British Airways to launch 787-9 Dreamliner on Delhi route in October
British Airways’ new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, complete with a new First class cabin, will start flying to Delhi from October 25th. The 787-9, the first of which is due to arrive with British Airways in September, is 20ft longer that its 787-8 predecessor, so as well as offering World Traveller, World Traveller Plus and Club World, there’s also room for a new First class cabin – a first for the airline’s 787 fleet.
Oman Air launches new services to Goa, India
Oman Air has launched a brand-new service between the Omani capital of Muscat and Goa, India. The new service, which was announced in January 2015 and started earlier, offers four flights per week. Goa is Oman Air’s eleventh destination in India, and the service meets strong demand from leisure travellers drawn by Goa’s famed natural beauty.
Dozens killed in Indian rail crash
More than 30 people have been killed in a rail accident in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The engine and two carriages of the Janta Express, which travels between Dehradun and Varanasi, derailed near the village of Bachhrawan.
Indian airports on high alert following terrorist threat
Airports in India have been advised to step up security following a series of intelligence reports suggesting a possible terrorist attack. Officials were on high alert with warnings a Delhi-Kabul flight operated by state-run Air India could be targeted by Islamist groups.

India expands visa on arrival scheme to boost tourism
Tourists visiting India from the United States, Australia, Brazil, Germany and Japan have been added to a growing list of visitors who are able to get visas on arrival in the country. Visitors from 43 countries no longer have to queue up at local consulates, but can instead apply for their visas online and collect them at airports.

Le Méridien continues growth in India
Starwood Hotels & Resorts has confirmed the signing of Le Méridien Ahmedabad, a 200-room new build hotel slated to open in 2018. In addition to well-appointed, oversized rooms, signature amenities and personalized services, the hotel will also offer four restaurant and bar venues, including a signature all-day dining outlet and two specialty restaurants. Recreation facilities include a swimming pool and fully equipped fitness center.
