Dubai International to lengthen runways
Dubai Airports has announced it will conduct an extensive runway enhancement project at Dubai International during an 80 day period commencing May 1st, 2014. To safeguard service levels while the work is taking place, scheduled passenger flights at its hub airport will be reduced and all freighter, charter and general aviation flights will be diverted to Dubai World Central.

Dubai International has taken the top spot as leading hub for A380 operations, according to published airline industry flight schedule data for 2012. This is the latest coup for Dubai International, which has become fastest growing airport in 2012 according to OAG statistics.
Dubai World Central to open in October
Dubai Airports has announced Dubai World Central will open its doors to passengers on October 27th, 2013 when launch carriers nasair and Wizz Air commence operations into the emirate’s second airport. nasair plans to operate over 50 flights per week between Dubai and a number of destinations in Saudi Arabia.

Dubai International has been confirmed as the world’s second busiest airport for international passenger traffic, moving ahead of Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport for the first time. Dubai International sees continued growth in February
Dubai International passenger numbers continued to soar in February with 5.08 million customers passing through the facility up 11.4 per cent from the same period in 2012, according to the monthly traffic report issued today by Dubai Airports. Passenger traffic totalled 5,080,360 in February up from 4,561,147 recorded during the same month in 2012.

Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZA) has secured $136m (AED500m) worth of financing options from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) to help expand its key offices buildings, business centre and food court.
Record month at Dubai International
Dubai International has begun 2013 in top gear, setting yet another monthly record by welcoming, for the first time, more than 5.5 million passengers in a single month. According to the traffic report issued by Dubai Airports today, passenger traffic rose 14.6 per cent to 5,559,760 in January 2013, up from 4,852,139 in the same month in 2012.

Dubai Airports and Emirates have completed the phased launch of Concourse A – the home of the A380 and the world’s first purpose-built facility for the aircraft at Dubai International. The new concourse is expected to boost capacity at Dubai International from 60 million to 75 million passengers per year.
Dubai International moves to third in world airport rankings
Following its busiest month and year on record, Dubai International has taken over as the world’s third ranked airport for international passenger numbers, vaulting ahead of Hong Kong International Airport in the global rankings. According to the annual traffic report issued today by Dubai Airports, passenger traffic surged 13.2 per cent to 57,684,550 in 2012, up from 50,977,960 passengers recorded during 2011.
Dubai Airport welcomes first A380s to Concourse A
Dubai Airports has announced the phased opening of Concourse A, the world’s first A380 facility at Dubai International’s Terminal 3, with four of its 20 contact gates being brought into operation from today. Scheduled for departure at 14:30 from Dubai to Heathrow, London became Concourse A’s first flight, ushering in a new era in Dubai’s aviation history.

Passenger traffic at Dubai International is set to surpass the projected target of 56.5 million for the year, as the hub racked up another month of double digit growth this November, according to the monthly traffic report issued by Dubai Airports. The airport operator also revealed that traffic is forecast to reach 66 million in 2013.
