Dubai Airports in green focus
Dubai Airports’ conservation efforts are paying environmental and financial dividends as the organisation reported the results of 2011 energy and fuel saving initiatives that reduced CO2 emissions by 72,793 tonnes, saved 131.9 million gallons of water and achieved US$4.33 million in fuel savings.
Dubai International passengers soar
Dubai International’s monthly passenger traffic has surpassed the 4.5 million mark for the second month in a row, according to a report by Dubai Airports. The airport, which currently has an annual capacity of 60 million passengers, will step this up to 75 million passengers by next year with the opening of Concourse 3, an A380 facility dedicated for use by Emirates Airline.

Dubai Airports is inviting advertising companies to submit expressions of interest to be awarded the official concessionaire for the upcoming Concourse 3 at Dubai International. This follows Dubai Airports’ invitation to food and beverage companies and service operators in September earlier this year.
Dubai International Airport passenger numbers surge
Economic uncertainty and flagging consumer confidence in Europe and the United States did little to curtail the continued growth in passenger numbers at Dubai International as traffic surged 7.3 per cent to 4.3 million passengers in October, according to the latest traffic statistics released today by Dubai Airports. October passenger numbers rose to 4,307,817, up 7.3 per cent compared to 4,013,127 recorded during the same month in 2010.

Dubai Airports released mid-year traffic results which confirm Dubai International recorded the busiest six months in its 50 year history as 24.6 million passengers passed through the world’s fourth busiest airport for international passenger traffic during the first half of 2011, compared to 22.6 million in the corresponding period in 2010, an increase of 8.9%.

Dubai Airports outlines expansion plans
Dubai Airports has announced plans to invest Dh22 billion in the expansion of Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum Airport by 2020. Khalifa Al Zaffin, executive chairman of parent-company Dubai World Central revealed during the recent Airport Show 2011, organised by REED Exhibitions, the plans would increase the capacity of the Dubai Airport to 90 million passengers annually.

ATM 2011: Dubai set to become world’s busiest airport by 2015
Dubai Airports says that its traffic forecast for Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International (DWC) will increase rapidly over the next decade, making it the world’s busiest airport by 2015. The annoucement at ATM follows Dubai International Airport bein voted “Middle East’s Leading Airport” at this week’s World Travel Awards in Dubai.
