Dubai Airports tests first purpose-built A380 concourse
Dubai Airports has conducted the first operational trial involving members of the public, to test the readiness of the newly built Concourse A – the first purpose-built A380 facility in the world. Situated at Dubai International Terminal 3, the major trial follows a comprehensive series of preliminary exercises that were carried out at the facility in recent weeks with the participation of employees of the airport and its partners.
Traffic surges at Dubai International
Dubai International has recorded double digit growth in passenger numbers in September, according to the monthly traffic report issued today by airport operator Dubai Airports. Dubai International is the fourth busiest international aviation hub in the world.
Fog causes disruption at Dubai International Airport
As many as 50 flights have been diverted from Dubai International Airport following the closure of both runways. Operator Dubai Airports said the airport was closed at 06:45 resulted in the diversion of flights to a number of airports in the region including Dubai World Central, Al Ain, Doha Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Muscat and Bahrain among others.
Dubai International passenger traffic surges 20 per cent
Passenger numbers at Dubai International exceeded the 4.5 million mark for the seventh time this year, according to the August traffic report issued by airport operator Dubai Airports. The large growth rate was mainly attributed to fluctuating travel patters during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan in August.
Alpha-numeric system implemented at Dubai International
A new alpha-numeric system has been installed at Dubai International in a bid to make it easier for passengers to find their way around. The updating and conversion of existing signage was the first phase of a longer term project.

Annual traffic at Dubai airports to reach 98m
Annual aircraft movements in Dubai are expected to increase to 560,000 by 2020, when over 98 million passengers and over four million tonnes of air freight will pass through the emirate’s airports, a research study revealed. The total aircraft movements, including local and foreign airlines, general aviation, private operators and freighters, in the UAE will surge to 620,000 in 2012 and 663,000 by 2013, according to the study on the GCC airports performance and future growth trends and projections.
Concourse 3 testing programme underway
With construction of the purpose-built A380 facility - Concourse 3 - on track for completion at the end of 2012, Dubai Airports has launched an intensive operational readiness programme to prepare the new facility for its opening in the first quarter of 2013.
