The Caribbean Tourism Organization has partnered with Virtual Tourist to collect information from potential summer cruise travellers visiting the region. Virtual Tourist is an worldwide online travel community where travellers and locals share travel experiences and advice.

Trinidad & Tobago set for CTO Sustainable Tourism Development conference
Trinidad & Tobago will host the next Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) conference on Sustainable Tourism Development in 2013, the CTO has announced. In a symbolic passing of the baton, deputy permanent secretary at the Trinidad & Tobago ministry of tourism, Raye Sandy, received the CTO Sustainable Tourism Mahogany Scroll from Guyana’s tourism minister, Irfaan Ali, at the closing of STC-13.
CTO hosts Sustainable Tourism Conference in Guyana
The Caribbean Tourism Organisation is preparing for the 13th Annual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism, which will take place April 15th-18th in Georgetown, Guyana. The CTO and the Guyana Tourism Authority have announced the theme of this year’s conference as ‘Keeping the Right Balance: Sustaining our Resources’.
Caribbean tourism attacks UK government on Air Passenger Duty
Britain’s decision to go ahead with the double inflationary increase in Air Passenger Duty on Sunday has been condemned by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation, the Caribbean region’s tourism development agency. The Budget 2012, which was released on March 21st, confirmed that the double inflationary increase in Air Passenger Duty to all destinations that had been announced in November 2011 would go ahead from this Sunday, April 1st 2012.
Visitor figures up in the Caribbean
Figures from the Caribbean Tourism Organisation have revealed 23.8 million overnight visitors headed to the region in 2011. This is a 3.3 per cent increase on the figure recorded the previous year.
Caribbean sees rise in visitor numbers in 2011 despite troubled times
The Caribbean Tourism Organisation, the authority on Caribbean tourism arrival statistics and visitor spend, announced earlier 23.8 million stay over visitors came to the region in 2011. This represents an increase of 3.3 per cent over 2010.

Anguilla leads Caribbean Tourism Month celebrations
Anguilla has begun celebrating Caribbean Tourism Month under the theme ‘One Sea, One Voice, One Caribbean’. The program, which is endorsed by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation, seeks to create opportunities to raise awareness among the people of the Caribbean as to the importance of tourism to the development of the region.
Travel agents explore the Caribbean at WTM Training Day
UK-based travel agents will get an opportunity to discover and explore the Caribbean during a training day planned by Caribbean Tourism Organisation at World Travel Market. A full day session has been organised for Wednesday November 9th to include presentations about the region and interactions with key Caribbean industry partners to assist agents in selling the Caribbean, as effectively as possible in 2012.
CTO chief Skerritt to address WTM forum
Caribbean Tourism Organisation chairman Richard Skerritt has been confirmed to address a Word Travel Market forum on responsible tourism. Skerritt will speak on the role of government in making tourism more sustainable.
