Cathay Pacific unveils new business class lounge
Cathay Pacific Airways has previewed its new Business Class Lounge at The Pier at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), following a comprehensive refurbishment. Located adjacent to Gate 65 in the North West concourse of HKIA, the new Business Class Lounge occupies a space of 3,306 square metres, with seating for 550 people.
Low fuel prices allow Cathay Pacific to drive up profit in tough environment
Cathay Pacific Group has reported an attributable profit of HK$6,000 million for 2015, rising from a profit of HK$3,150 million in 2014. Earnings per share were HK152.5 cents, compared to HK80.1 cents in the previous year. The group’s performance in 2015 was better than in 2014, with the business benefiting from low fuel prices.
Travelport inks deal with Cathay Pacific
Travelport is extending its multi-year content agreement with Cathay Pacific and its subsidiary Dragonair, which also sees the airlines sign up for Travelport’s industry leading merchandising solution known as Rich Content and Branding.
Cathay Pacific to launch Gatwick-Hong Kong route in 2016
Cathay Pacific Airways has announced that it will launch a new four-times-weekly service from London’s Gatwick Airport and Hong Kong on September 2nd, 2016. Subject to government approval, Cathay will be the only airline that flies non-stop between Gatwick and Hong Kong.
New leadership for Cathay Pacific in Europe
Cathay Pacific Airways has announced the appointment of Neil Glenn as its general manager, Europe. Taking responsibility for the airline’s strategic planning and business development in Europe, Glenn will oversee the operation of the airline within the region. Having joined John Swire & Sons in 1990, Glenn most recently worked in Singapore as managing director of Swire Pacific Offshore Operations.
Cathay Pacific to overhaul Marco Polo loyalty club
Cathay Pacific Airways has announced that it will be making changes to its Marco Polo Club loyalty programme to reflect the evolving travel needs of its most loyal customers. The airline aims to enhance the overall membership experience through more effective recognition of the contribution made by individual members. Cathay Pacific has been growing its network in recent years, with the addition of many ultra-long and ultra-short-haul services, as well as making a significant investment in the differentiation of its cabin products.
Cathay Pacific launches flights to Dusseldorf
Cathay Pacific has launched a four-times weekly service to Dusseldorf this week. Düsseldorf is Cathay Pacific’s second destination in Germany, after Frankfurt, and marks the latest enhancement to its Europe network.
Cathay Pacific Airways sets out changes at the top
Cathay Pacific Airways has confirmed the appointment of three new directors in the airline, with all three appointments to be effective from the summer of 2015. Paul Loo will become director corporate development and will be responsible for the development of Cathay Pacific’s networks and long-term strategic direction. Loo joined Cathay Pacific in 1991 and has held a number of senior positions in the airline.
Chu to take over as oneworld chairman
Ivan Chu, chief executive of Cathay Pacific Airways, has been nominated by the governing board of oneworld to serve as its chairman for the year ahead. He succeeds Willie Walsh, chief executive of IAG, the parent of oneworld members British Airways and Iberia. As oneworld governing board chairman, Ivan Chu will act as “first among equals” of the chief executive of the alliance’s member airlines in oneworld governance.
Boeing 777-300ER milestone for Cathay Pacific
Boeing and Cathay Pacific Airways have celebrated the delivery of the airline’s 50th 777-300ER. With this delivery, Cathay Pacific will have 67 777s in operation, which also includes 12 777-300s and five 777-200s. Cathay Pacific is slated to receive three more 777-300ERs this year and is one of the launch customers for the 777X with 21 777-9X airplanes on order.
Cathay Pacific sees profits increase as demand returns to aviation market
Cathay Pacific Group has reported an attributable profit of HK$3,150 million for 2014, compared to a profit of HK$2,620 million in 2013. Earnings per share were HK80.1 cents compared to HK66.6 cents in 2013, while turnover for the year increased by 5.5 per cent to HK$105,991 million.
Cathay Pacific to serve Illy to premium passengers
Cathay Pacific Airways has partnered with illy to serve premium coffee to First and Business Class passengers. Freshly brewed coffee from the renowned Italian coffee roasting company is already being served on flights, while illy’s espresso, café latte and cappuccino will be gradually introduced onboard beginning from March 2015.
