Virgin Atlantic rallies against IAG’s BMI takeover
Virgin Atlantic is set to appeal against the European Commission’s decision to allow IAG, BA’s parent company, to acquire BMI for £172.5m. Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson claims that the deal, which gained regulatory approval on 30 March, could damage the aviation industry for years to come.
British Airways to slash 170 jobs
British Airways has today unveiled a new cost cutting plan which has put hundreds of jobs at Gatwick Airport under threat. 400 ramp workers will see their jobs outsourced while 170 employees will be made redundant if the proposals come into effect.

British Airways increases flights from London City
British Airways is expanding its aircraft fleet and route network at London City Airport where it is now officially the largest operator with the highest number of routes and customers. The airline is to take delivery of another Embraer 190 in the late summer, bringing the total fleet size at the location to 14 aircraft.
British Airways launch new London Gatwick to Nice flights
British Airways has launched a new service to the city of Nice in the south of France from London Gatwick. The airline will fly to Nice three times a day and will boost its summer sun network. This is in addition to the seven daily flights from Heathrow and once a day service from London City airport.
IAG gets approval for BMI takeover
British Airways’ parent IAG has secured approval for the takeover of BMI from its current owner Lufthansa. The £172.5m deal is expected to be finalised later this month.
American Airlines, British Airways offer seamless service to India with new codeshare agreement
American Airlines and British Airways have received approval from the Indian government to place the AA* code on British Airways flights from London to the following Indian cities: Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The new codeshare flights are scheduled to go on sale today with the first travel date starting March 29. This new codeshare agreement provides American customers more convenient choices and greater connectivity when traveling to India.
