Qatar Airways, British Airways return to Tripoli
Qatar Airways has announced it will resume flights to the Libyan capital Tripoli from February 2nd. Also today, British Airways unveiled plans to resume flights to Tripoli from Tuesday May 1st, 2012.
British Airways rolls out first refitted Boeing 777-200
Customers flying to New York’s Newark airport have been the first to experience British Airways’ latest seats and cabins following the first complete refit of one of the airline’s Boeing 777-200s. The aircraft was the first of 18 to be fitted with British Airways’ recently launched First cabin, new World Traveller and World Traveller Plus cabins and the airline’s latest Thales in-flight entertainment system.
International Airlines Group sees traffic surge
International Airlines Group saw traffic measured in revenue passenger kilometres increase by 12.2 per cent in December 2011 when compared to the previous year. Growth was led by British Airways, which accounted for nearly 70 per cent of passengers flown, while Spanish counterpart Iberia saw virtually static demand.

British Airways has confirmed it will cut the cost of First Class and Business Class travel around the world from today. In a move designed to win valuable premium travellers, BA said it would cut the cost of flights to Barbados, St Lucia and Grenada.

Qantas and British Airways have appointed Sriram Narayan as manager for Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, replacing Neil Ager who moved to Australia as British Airways regional commercial manager for south-west Pacific. Based in Thailand, Narayan will oversee both Qantas and British Airways for their key business strategies across Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, together with the operations at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

British Airways has revealed it will cut recruitment by half in 2012 as a direct result of a government decision to persevere with increases in Air Passenger Duty.
