Donghai Airlines completes $1.32bn Boeing Dreamliner order
Boeing and Donghai Airlines have announced the finalisation of an order for five 787-9 Dreamliners, valued at $1.32 billion at current list prices. Shenzhen-based Donghai Airlines announced its intent to order 25 737 MAX 8s and five 787-9 Dreamliners in July at the Farnborough International Airshow.
Aeromexico welcomes first Boeing 787-9 to fleet
Aeromexico has unveiled its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner - called Quetzalcoatl - at the carrier’s hangar in the Mexico City International Airport. This airplane is the first of ten of these models the airline ordered in a package it announced in July 2012, representing the largest investment in the history of Mexican aviation.
Qatar Airways signs $11.7bn order with Boeing
Boeing and Qatar Airways announced an order for 30 787-9 Dreamliners and 10 777-300ERs, valued at $11.7 billion at list prices. The airline also signed a letter of intent for up to 60 737 MAX 8s, valued at $6.9 billion at list prices. The announcement builds on Qatar Airways’ current fleet of 84 Boeing aircraft, a combination of 787s and 777s, all delivered over the last nine years.
Uzbekistan Airways takes delivery of first Boeing Dreamliner
Boeing and Uzbekistan Airways, the flag carrier of the Republic of Uzbekistan, have celebrated the delivery of the airline’s first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. “The delivery of our first Dreamliner marks a new and exciting chapter in our long-standing relationship with Boeing that began back in 1996,” said Valeriy Tyan, director general, Uzbekistan Airways. “We are delighted that as early as in September, passengers of Uzbekistan Airways will be offered a new flight experience and an unmatched level of comfort on-board our Boeing 787 Dreamliner.”
All Nippon Airways welcomes fiftieth Dreamliner to fleet
Boeing and All Nippon Airways have celebrated the delivery of the airline’s 50th 787 Dreamliner during a ceremony at Boeing’s Everett Delivery Centre. The milestone marks yet another record for ANA as it becomes the world’s first airline to operate 50 787 Dreamliners. “The 787 Dreamliner has played a significant role in opening up new routes into new markets, while also forming the backbone of our long-haul fleet,” said Osamu Shinobe, president, ANA.
American Airlines debuts B787-9 Dreamliner on Madrid route
American Airlines will debut its new B787-9 Dreamliner on the Dallas Fort Worth and Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport on November 4th, 2016. The aircraft will also operate between DFW and São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport beginning November. Tickets for both routes are now on sale.
Thomson Airways welcomes latest Dreamliner to fleet
Thomson Airways’ tenth Dreamliner touched down at Manchester Airport earlier. The airline’s managing director, John Murphy, landed the aircraft after flying 3,950 miles across the Atlantic from the Boeing Factory in Charleston, South Carolina. Its arrival is extra special for the airline, as it is the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to enter the Thomson fleet.
Hainan Airlines welcomes Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to fleet
Boeing and Hainan Airlines have celebrated the delivery of the carrier’s first 787-9 Dreamliner. Hainan becomes China’s first operator of both the 787-8 and 787-9 variants of the Dreamliner family. Hainan Airlines, the largest privately owned airline in China, leased the airplane through an agreement with Air Lease Corporation.
Air China welcomes first Boeing Dreamliner to fleet
Boeing and Air China have officially unveiled the airline’s first 787-9 Dreamliner to the public at a grand ceremony in Beijing. The national flag carrier is the first airline in the country to have a 787-9 enter into service. “The 787-9 Dreamliner employs a multitude of cutting-edge technologies best represented by its electronic handling system and wide application of composite materials,” said Captain Wang Yingnian, chief pilot of Air China.
Norwegian adds two new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to fleet
Norwegian has signed an agreement to lease two new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to be delivered in spring 2018. With this new agreement, the company’s long-haul fleet will consist of 42 Dreamliners by 2020. Norwegian also exercises eight of its 100 Boeing 737 MAX8 purchase options.
Air Austral receives first Boeing Dreamliner
Boeing has delivered the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Air Austral. The newest addition to the Air Austral long-haul fleet will touch down at Roland Garros Airport in Saint-Marie, Reunion Island tomorrow following a 10,500-mile delivery flight originating from the Boeing Everett Delivery Centre in Everett, Washington.
Thomson Airways launches long-haul routes from Bristol Airport
Thomson Airways has welcomed one of its state-of-the-art Dreamliner aircraft to Bristol Airport as it prepares to launch two new routes to Cancun in Mexico and Sanford in Florida for Thomson and First Choice customers from summer 2017. The move to introduce the new routes – which will go on sale later this month – is part of the holiday company’s strategy to ensure customers across the UK can fly from their local airport and stay at the best hotels in some of the most exciting destinations.
