Longest ever flight for LATAM as airline takes off for Melbourne, Australia
LATAM Airlines Group has announced it will operate a new, non-stop service between Santiago and Melbourne, Australia, from October 2017. The westbound Santiago-Melbourne leg – measuring more than 11,000 kilometres in distance with a flight time of approximately 15 hours – will become the longest non-stop flight in LATAM´s history.
Ten million overnight guests expected in Sydney for summer 2016
This summer more than ten million overnight and day trip visitors are expected to visit Sydney to make the most of the warm weather, world famous beaches, globally recognised icons, first class dining scene and calendar of events. Over the six month period of October – March Sydney will receive 18 million visitors, with ten million of these expected to visit during summer.

Air China has announced direct service between Melbourne and Shenzhen, to begin on January 10th next year. The service CA767/768 will operate four times per week with evening departures on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

Plans have been unveiled for a hotel with direct links to domestic and international check-in areas to be built at Adelaide Airport in South Australia. Event Hospitality & Entertainment has reached agreement with Adelaide Airport to develop and operate a seven-storey, 165-room hotel within the Adelaide Airport precinct.

Four people have been killed in an accident at the Dreamworld theme park in Australia. Two men and two women died in the Thunder River Rapids ride at the attraction, the largest theme-park in Australia.
Etihad Airways increases flights to Sydney, Australia
Etihad Airways will add three weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Sydney to operate a double-daily schedule from February 6th, 2017. The morning departure from Abu Dhabi – EY450 – and the afternoon departure from Sydney – EY451 – will increase from four to seven flights per week This enhancement to the airline’s Sydney schedule comes with the move by strategic partner Virgin Australia to shift its Australia to Abu Dhabi operation from Sydney to Perth from June 9th, 2017.
Singapore Airlines launches Capital Express service
Singapore Airlines has launched its new ‘Capital Express’ service, linking Singapore for the first time with the capital cities of both Australia and New Zealand. The inaugural flight, SQ291, departed Singapore Changi Airport at 23:00 last night and arrived at Canberra Airport at 08:15 local time this morning.

Emirates to bring A380 to Dubai-Auckland route for first time
Emirates is to operate its daily non-stop services between Dubai and Auckland with an A380 aircraft, less than a year after operating the flights with a Boeing 777-200LR. Emirates’ flagship double-decker A380s will operate on the route, currently the world’s longest, from October 30th.
Emirates to launch direct Dubai-Melbourne flights in October
Passengers travelling to Melbourne, Australia will now have another direct flight option with Emirates announcing that flights EK408 and EK409 will begin operating as non-stop services from Dubai from October 30th, 2016. Operated by an Emirates B777-300ER aircraft, EK408 will depart Dubai at 03:00 and arrive in Melbourne at 23:20.

At a ground-breaking ceremony for the new six-star 17-storey hotel tower to be built in front of the existing hotel, and completed in time for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, O’Neill said the development would make the Gold Coast and Queensland justifiably proud.
