Etihad launches second daily Melbourne flight from Abu Dhabi
The launch this weekend of Etihad Airways’ second daily non-stop service will connect Melbourne with more of the world’s great cities and create new opportunities for international commerce and trade. The new service will be operated by a three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with eight seats in First Class, 40 in Business Class and 280 in Economy Class. It complements the airline’s existing daily non-stop B777 flight between Melbourne and Abu Dhabi.
Etihad Airways brings Dreamliner to Brisbane route
Etihad Airways has put the State of Queensland within easier reach of more international visitors and will give Queenslanders more convenient access to its extensive global network following the launch today of daily non-stop flights between Brisbane and Abu Dhabi. The new non-stop flights are operated by Etihad Airways’ brand new three-class Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner which features the airline’s ground-breaking next generation First Suite, Business Studio and Economy Smart Seat.
Emirates brings A380 flights to Perth, Australia
Emirates has expanded the network of destinations served by its highly-popular A380 aircraft with the launch of the first A380 service into Perth, Australia. Perth is the fourth Australian city to welcome a regular Emirates Airbus A380 service, with the revolutionary double-decker aircraft set to transport up to 982 passengers in-bound and outbound daily between Perth and Emirates’ hub, Dubai.
Queensland Tourism launches Great Beach Drive holiday route
Australia’s Great Beach Drive has been launched to provide over 200 kilometres of spectacular beach driving, capturing the dramatic coastline, scenery and wildlife along Queensland’s Sunshine and Fraser coasts. The touring route is steeped in culture and etched in Australian history. The full journey covers two UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, a Wold Heritage-listed Marine Park and the largest sand island in the world.
P&O to offer five-ship program in Australia for 2016 cruise season
A tribal Christmas in Papua New Guinea and rocking music-themed short breaks are among the highlights of P&O Cruises’ new five-ship program which offers Australian holidaymakers the largest range of cruise itineraries and destinations in the region. Adelaide Convention Centre welcomes new West Building
Eighteen thousand people streamed through the doors of the Adelaide Convention Centre over four days to attend free and ticketed events marking the official opening of the centre’s new West Building. ICC Sydney on track for December 2016 opening
International Convention Centre Sydney has launched a virtual tour of the much anticipated world class venue, on track to open in December 2016, to a global audience in Melbourne at the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo. Kicking off AIME’s media program this morning, at Australia’s largest business events trade show, ICC Sydney has for the first time provided the industry with an animated movie that explores the sparkling new Sydney city waterfront venue and its magnificent views.
Adelaide to host Tourism Australia MICE conference in December
Adelaide, South Australia will host Australia’s top trade event in December 2015. Called Dreamtime, the Tourism Australia MICE conference brings more than 100 of the world’s top level travel buyers, including agents, incentives houses and companies that book incentive programs and events, to Australia for a five-day experience. The first two days are spent touring the host city and meeting with local tourism and business event operators.

Brits drive Australia tourism surge
Australia welcomed 6.7 million visitors in the 12 month period ending August 2014, an increase of 8.2 per cent when compared to the same period the previous year. Of the total, 666,900 visitors arrived from the UK representing a 5.7 per cent increase on the previous 12 months.
ICC Sydney set to revolutionise western harbour
At a forum focussed on the unprecedented rejuvenation of Sydney’s western harbour earlier, private and public sector representatives discussed how best to promote an emerging super precinct, within the heart of which sits International Convention Centre Sydney. Chief executive of ICC Sydney and AEG Ogden Group conventions director Geoff Donaghy said although the international convention centre was set within its own dynamic precinct of Darling Harbour, the destination was further bolstered by the growth of neighbouring finance, technology, media and student hubs.
