Travelport and Alitalia agree merchandising distribution
Travelport, the business services provider to the global travel industry, and Alitalia, Compagnia Aerea Italiana, today announce the implementation of a new agreement for the distribution of ancillary services to Travelport-connected agencies in Italy and worldwide. Fulfilled seamlessly via an electronic miscellaneous document (EMD), the new service will begin rollout in quarter four 2012, starting with travel agents in Italy.

Routes 2012: Abu Dhabi Airports Company welcomes Alitalia
Abu Dhabi Airports Company has announced during the 18th World Route Development Forum in Abu Dhabi that it is finalising its preparations to welcome Alitalia, the national airline of Italy. The carrier will offer direct flights between Abu Dhabi International Airport and Rome International Airport from December 1st.
Routes 2012: Alitalia jets into Abu Dhabi
Italian flag-carrier Alitalia is to inaugurate flights to World Routes host city Abu Dhabi before the end of this year after formalising a codeshare arrangement with United Arab Emirates national carrier Etihad Airways on the proposed link from Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport. The new four times weekly service is due to commence on December 1st, 2012, subject to government approvals, and will be flown using an Airbus A330.

Sabre Travel Network has signed a multi-year agreement with Italian national carrier Alitalia to sell its ancillary products to travel agents connected to the Sabre global distribution system. In addition to shopping and booking Alitalia airfares, an agent can now shop and book ancillary services such as pre-paid baggage and access to airport lounges, all seamlessly integrated into the reservation process – a first for agents in Europe.

Italian flag-carrier Alitalia has confirmed it has selected CityDiscovery as its partner for tours and activities. Passengers access the tours and excursions via an affiliate website - with CityDiscovery offering more than 6,000 experiences.
