Finnair and Air Serbia have signed a codeshare to boost flight options in Europe for the two airlines’ customers. The deal opens up a range of new routes for Finnair customers to fly on and provides a significant expansion for passengers flying with the national airline of Serbia.

Etihad Airways’ equity partner Air Serbia has launched flights to the United States, a milestone achieved with the support of, and in collaboration with, several of Etihad Airways equity partner airlines. Air Serbia, in which Etihad Airways has a 49 per cent stake, launched its five-times-a-week scheduled flights between its Belgrade hub and New York JFK International Airport, marking a return of direct air links between Serbia and the USA after a 24-year absence.

Air Serbia has announced plans to launch flights from Belgrade to New York in June 2016. Subject to government and regulatory approval, it will be the first non-stop service between Serbia and the United States in 24 years, to provide a new air-link between the two countries which share deep cultural and commercial ties.

Air Serbia, the national airline of Serbia, has announced significantly improved performance in the first three months of the year with a 66 per cent increase in total passenger numbers to 364,924, compared with the same period in 2013. The airline’s passenger carrying capacity, which is measured by available seat kilometres, has jumped 93 per cent resulting in a 47 per cent increase in revenue during the first quarter of 2014.

Serbia’s newest charter service, Aviolet, has launched operations from Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla International Airport. Aviolet is fully operated by Air Serbia, Serbia’s national airline, and will serve destinations in Egypt, Greece, Italy, Spain and Turkey, during the 2014 summer season.
