Gogo brings Wi-Fi to Air Canada North American fleet
Gogo, a leading aircraft communications service provider to the global aviation industry, announces today that it plans on rolling out Wi-Fi on Air Canada’s entire North American fleet in May. The agreement also provides for future type-testing of Gogo satellite solutions for Wi-Fi on international flights. The international trials will take place in 2015.
Air Canada places $6.5bn order with Boeing
Boeing and Air Canada have finalised an order for 61 737 MAX airplanes to lead the airline’s single-aisle fleet renewal plan. The order, valued at $6.5 billion at list prices, consists of 33 737 MAX 8s and 28 737 MAX 9s, as well as 18 options and 30 rights to purchase additional 737 MAXs.
Venezuelan unrest sees Air Canada suspend flights
Continued civil unrest in Venezuela has seen Air Canada halt flights to capital Caracas. The carrier, which had operated three return flights a week between the destination and Toronto, is the latest international airline to reduce services to the country.
Air Canada bets big on Boeing 737 MAX
Air Canada today announced its mainline narrowbody fleet renewal plan that includes commitments, options and rights to purchase up to 109 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The new aircraft will replace Air Canada’s existing mainline fleet of Airbus narrowbody aircraft, creating one of the world’s youngest, most fuel efficient and simplified airline fleets.

Air Canada is premiering its brand new international cabin design and seating that the airline will feature on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet. The carrier will provide three cabins of service on board its Boeing 787 Dreamliners highlighted by a brand new contemporary decor and comfortable ergonomic seating that features 180-degree lie-flat seats in its International Business Class cabin.
Air Canada opens Maple Leaf Lounge at Frankfurt Airport
Air Canada has opened its newest International Maple Leaf Lounge at Frankfurt Airport’s Terminal 1, Departures Area B. The 726- square-metre lounge features a Quiet Zone with six reclining pods equipped with personal satellite-fed TV screens, USB ports and Sony noise-cancelling headsets in addition to a Spa-inspired shower area featuring showers with large rain-shower heads, ambient music and Canadian Escents spa products.
Major European expansion from Air Canada
Air Canada is undertaking a major expansion of international services to Europe from Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary. The airline has announced highlights of its summer 2014 Europe schedule, which includes the introduction of year-round non-stop service from Toronto to Milan, Italy with up to five weekly flights, offering the only non-stop service between Canada and Milan.

Air Canada completes $1.4 billion refinancing transaction
Air Canada announced today that it has completed its previously announced private offerings of senior secured notes, consisting of U.S.$400 million principal amount of 6.750% senior secured first lien notes due 2019 and C$300 million principal amount of 7.625% senior secured first lien notes due 2019 and U.S.$300 million principal amount of 8.750% senior secured second lien notes due 2020.

Air Canada has launched its new leisure unit, Air Canada Rouge, under the AC code. Rouge began offering services from Toronto to Venice and Edinburgh, Scotland, and from Toronto and Montreal to Athens.
Etihad, Air Canada in codeshare deal
Etihad Airways and Air Canada have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a commercial cooperation agreement that will enhance travel services between the United Arab Emirates and Canada. While the two carriers currently have interline agreements in place for passenger and cargo services, Etihad Airways and Air Canada intend to offer customers through-checked bags, reciprocal codeshare services and frequent flyer benefits.
