Top team in place as JW Marriott Marquis Dubai prepares to open

A team of top industry professionals has been appointed to launch the iconic, world-class luxury JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, which will open its doors to guests in the fourth quarter of this year.

A symbol of the growing importance of Dubai at the centre of the global business crossroads, the 1,608-room hotel will open in two phases with the first section featuring 804 rooms and a number of world class restaurants, lounges and entertainment venues.

In addition to serving the luxury business traveller, the hotel is targeting the lucrative and increasingly important MICE market, which currently does not have a hotel of sufficient scale to host such large groups.

Rupprecht Queitsch, a German national who has been working for Marriott globally since 1986, has had extensive experience in hospitality and will lead the JW Marriott Marquis team as general manager.

Working as hotel manager and supporting Rupprecht, Bill Keffer will oversee operations which include Rooms, Food & Beverage, Engineering, Spa, Loss Prevention and IT.

With almost twenty years of service within the Marriott International network, Keffer brings with him a wealth of experience as well as numerous accolades.

Food and Beverage

Supporting this team will be Anthony Tuttle, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai’s new Director of Food and Beverage.

Anthony brings with him just under 25 years of Marriott experience after he joined the company straight from his Culinary Arts degree in the USA.

He then transitioned to Director of Food & Beverage and carried this title with him as he travelled the world taking positions in California, Hawaii, China and now here in Dubai.

Anthony is no stranger to hotel openings having opened five Marriott International properties in Mexico, Thailand and China.

Sales and Marketing

As director of marketing for the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, John Farrelly is responsible for building awareness and sales for this future landmark of luxury.

Joining Marriott International in the United Kingdom in 1999 as Director of Sales, Farrelly was involved in the rebranding and transition of the Swallow Four Seasons Hotel Manchester to the Manchester Airport Marriott.

Moving up the ranks, Farrelly was named cluster director of sales and marketing in 2005 and made the move to the UAE to take on his Dubai role in late 2011.

John is used to building and leading successful award winning teams and believes that the principle of success comes through investing in people and working as a team.

Steven Dowd has been appointed as Director of Finance for the new luxury property.

His responsibilities will include managing the pre-opening stage, providing Financial Leadership, assisting in moving from pre-opening to operation, and establishing excellent working relationships with the hotel team and Owners.
