This year The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, Bermuda’s Pink Palace (www.fairmont.com/hamilton), will celebrate its 125th anniversary. Since 1885, the hotel has been a landmark on the island and with its rich history, from the Victorian era and the birth of tourism on the island through World War II and into today, is part of Bermuda’s cultural heritage. “This is an exciting time in our history,” said Jon Crellin, general manager of the hotel. “We have enjoyed a significant investment in our property and on the heels of renovation are able to share our celebration with Bermudians and visitors alike. This will be a year long celebration with a variety of activities and ways for individuals to become part of it and we hope that we’re part of our guests’ celebrations as well.

“We know that both on-island and off, there are a number of pieces of memorabilia that have become personal treasures and wonderful memories,” continued Mr. Crellin. “We’re very excited to see what Princess memorabilia we’ll be able to gather. We’ll begin collecting now, and the search will culminate in fall with a historic exhibit and reception for those who contribute. Full amnesty, and an invitation to the party, will be provided to everyone who shares their ‘borrowed’ item and following the exhibit we will return everything.”

From silver and china to historic photographs and postcards to glassware and art, guests and island residents are asked to send any pieces to the attention of the Sales Office. Those with submissions should include their name and contact details, as well as fun stories or anecdotes about the provenance of the piece.

The Fairmont Hamilton Princess has been the location for countless weddings and honeymoons over the years and for its own anniversary, the hotel will offer a special Anniversary Package.
