TAP Portugal adds northern Brazil to route map

TAP Portugal has announced two new destinations in Brazil, Manaus and Belém, commencing in June 2014.

These new services signal TAP’s first destinations in northern Brazil, widening its existing network which will now serve all regions from the UK, via Lisbon.

TAP now flies to 12 destinations in Brazil, further strengthening its position as the world’s leading airline in operations to South America and the most frequent flyer from the UK to Brazil.

The route is to be launched with three weekly frequencies (Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays) and will operate the route London - Lisbon – Manaus – Belém – Lisbon - London.

Manaus and Belem are important eco-tourism destinations.

Manaus, with a population of 2.3 million, is the capital city of the state of Amazonas and one of the fastest growing regions in Brazil.

Belem is the capital city of the state of Pará, the entrance gate to the Amazon River with a population of 2.25 million.

Manaus has also been named as a host city for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, joining nine other host cities to be serviced by TAP flights.
