Spirit Airlines Receives FAA’s Prestigious Diamond Award of Excellence for Sixth Consecutive Year
Spirit Airlines has earned the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) highest distinction for aviation maintenance technician safety this year. It’s the sixth consecutive year that the airline has been awarded the “Aviation Maintenance Technician Diamond Award of Excellence,” a direct result of Spirit’s continued investment in training focused on safe operations for technicians and all Team Members.
“The continued learning opportunities for our maintenance technicians help enhance their technical skills and emphasize the importance of safety in everything we do,” said John Bendoraitis, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Spirit Airlines. “Thank you to our Team Members who prioritize operating a safe airline every day and made this recognition possible for the past six years.”
The FAA ensures that 100 percent of an airline’s maintenance technicians complete additional FAA-developed safety training courses throughout the year. Every eligible maintenance technician must pass specialized, continuous training in aviation maintenance, regulations, and FAA rules annually to qualify for the award.
