Awet Sium has been appointed general manager of Kimpton Donovan Hotel in downtown Washington, DC.
In his new role, Sium will oversee all hotel personnel, day-to-day operations, guest relations and business development at Kimpton Donovan Hotel.
He brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience to the stylish 193-room hotel that overlooks the bustling Thomas Circle and trendy 14th Street corridor.
Kimpton Donovan Hotel is known for its outstanding service, modern décor, unparalleled views from popular rooftop bar, DNV Rooftop, and acclaimed Japanese izakaya-style restaurant, Zentan.
Most recently, Sium served as general manager at Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa in West Palm Beach, Florida.
While Sium is trading beachfront views for DC’s 14th street corridor, the Montgomery College graduate is no stranger to the mid-Atlantic region, as he started his career working up through the ranks at many Washington area hotels before joining Kimpton in 2008.
Sium worked as assistant general manager at both Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore Inner Harbor and Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC before taking on his first general manger role at Kimpton Vero Beach Resort & Spa in Vero Beach, Florida.
In his spare time, Sium enjoys hiking with his family and golfing but his true passion is travel having visited more than 40 countries.
He resides in Maryland with his family and looks forward to spending time in his favourite Washington-area stomping grounds.
