SAS launches new gateway to Lapland!ina

SAS opens a new Scandinavian gateway to Lapland! From 6th November, Scandinavian Airlines will fly directly between London Heathrow and Luleå in northern Sweden once a week – perfect for the adventurous travellers.

Luleå is the gateway to the mountain world of Lapland and the Northern Tundras.  It’s a charming town with an archipelago of over 700 islands and skerries, lying between Sweden and Finland.  The Arctic Circle is less than two hours’ drive away and winter activities include dog sled adventures, ice fishing, sailing across the ice in an ice yacht (a yacht with skis!), snow mobile tours, ice-skating as well as skiing and snow-shoeing.

Semmy Rülf, Director of VisitSweden UK, comments: ‘We are delighted about the new route and the support that SAS, one of our key partners, is demonstrating towards one of our most exciting regions.  We very much look forward to working together to help shape Swedish Lapland into a must-see & accessible destination for UK travellers’.

The Luleå route is the seventh direct Nordic route operated by SAS from London. The launch follows the demand for a direct route to Northern Sweden, a popular tourist destination amongst British travellers, especially during the winter season.
