Ramadan traditions at Sharq Village & Spa, Doha, Qatar

Arabian tradition states it is the rare oyster that divulges a pearl of uncommon style and beauty, as divers discovered when finding these luminescent treasures off Qatar’s peninsula coast.

Similarly guests of Sharq Village & Spa will find a Doha beach resort of exceptional grace and splendour, as Phil Blizzard also discovered on his ‘Ramadan Tour’ of the region.

A maze of courtyards meanders organically from 300 meters of private coastline to reveal an oceanfront hotel in Doha that blends the modern world and storied tradition in a breathtaking setting.

Where guests are welcomed to a lobby featuring crystal-draped chandeliers hanging from the towering arched ceilings and Arabic music teases the senses, perhaps a little less so during the Holy Month.

However during Ramadan Sharq Village & Spa does celebrate the Holy Month with festivities that aims to delight everyone.

The majestic and exquisitely decorated Ramadan Tent, located with-in Al Dasha ballroom, features an extravagant buffet spreads, private Majlis seating, flavoured Shisha and live entertainment.

This feast for the senses includes carving stations from different cuisines of the region as well as a varied array of fresh salads and tempting desserts.

Elsewhere in ‘The Village’ you can find an Iftar Buffet at Al Liwan the Arabesque all day dining restaurant.

Here Chef Ali Hadla showcases exquisitely prepared traditional hot and cold dishes including freshly made breads together with mezze, classic salads, a live cooking station, the perennial favourite Ouzzi, a complete lamb slowly cooked on a bed of rice with fruit, nuts and some spices.

Also Shawarma, Arabic sandwiches made with pitta bread, along with grilled meats, seafood and desserts.

Earlier this year, Sharq Village & Spa was recognised by the World Travel Awards as being the Middle East’s Leading Villa and Qatar’s Leading Spa Resort.

Guests at Sharq Village & Spa will discover a breathtaking waterfront resort resembling an elegantly marbled sheikh’s palace, designed around cooling pools, fountains, lush gardens and intimate courtyards.

Exceptional gourmet dining in nine exquisite restaurants offering some of the most imaginative culinary experiences in Doha is also on offer.

The resort also houses Qatar’s only indoor souq featuring traditional Arabian trinkets and 12 upscale retail outlets as well as the award-winning Six Senses Spa, featuring 23 treatment rooms and menus inspired by Far Eastern and Arabic spa techniques.

Al Sharq Village & Spa is a Ritz-Carlton property and can be easily reached from Doha’s newly opened Hamad International Airport.

More information can be found on the hotel’s official website.
