Nottingham station’s contemporary new multi-storey car park had been officially opened 14 May 2012 by representatives from East Midlands Trains, Network Rail and Nottingham City Council.

The opening of the new multi-storey car park, built by Vinci Construction, marks the successful completion of phase one of the redevelopment of Nottingham Station into a world-class transport hub. 

Awarded the Park Mark status, the 950 spaced car park will cater for the continuing growth in train travel and is covered by state-of-the-art CCTV, and also automatic number plate recognition for improved security.  Disabled parking is located on levels two to five, with full lift access available.

New attractive office and retail outlets are also provided along the building frontage on Queens Road.

The new car park, located on Queens Road, will provide an enhanced experience for Nottingham station passengers, with prices starting at the discounted rate of just £4.00 for a day’s off-peak parking*.

“Nottingham is a key hub for East Midlands Trains and we are pleased to have worked in partnership with Nottingham City Council and Network Rail to successfully complete phase one of the station’s redevelopment scheme.”

“Consolidating safe and secure car parking adjacent to Nottingham Station releases an attractive development site which is in a key location in the southside business quarter of the City.

“The transformation of Nottingham Station into a world-class transport hub is being realised and it’s wonderful to see that it coincides with the £570m extension of the NET tram system to Clifton and Chilwell which will see a brand new transport interchange created over Nottingham Station.”

The completion of the new multi-storey car park and associated highway improvement works on Queen’s Road marks the end of phase one of the redevelopment. Public realm works on Station Street were completed in 2011 and a new cycle storage facility opened in July last year.

The second phase of the work is likely to start at the end of the summer. This will involve: 

·      Restoring Grade 2* listed buildings and creating an attractive vehicle-free Porte Cochere at the station.
·      Improved passenger and operator facilities, including upgraded travel information, displays, new toilets, ticket office, shops, cafes and waiting areas.
·      A new concourse connecting trains, trams and the car park.
·      Creating new retail space within the station.
·      Improved public realm around the station.
·      New and improved facilities for disabled people, cyclists and taxis.

The entire project will be completed in 2014. The station redevelopment is a key part of the wider regeneration of the Southside and Eastside areas of Nottingham.
