New A380 routes confirmed by Thai Airways

Thai Airways has confirmed it will launch its first Airbus A380 next week.

The superjumbo will launch flights between Bangkok and Hong Kong on September 27th, to be followed by a Bangkok-Singapore route on October 6th.

Thai is expecting to operate a total of 5 A380s by the end of 2013.

When the second aircraft is integrated into the winter schedule in mid-December 2012, Thai will operate a Bangkok-Frankfurt route.

In January 2013, it will begin operating the A380-800 between Bangkok and Narita and to and from Bangkok-Paris in February 2013.

Bangkok to London services are due to get the A380 within the next 18 months,

However, no date has been set for this route.

Thai Airways also recently named media veteran Sorajak Kasemsuvan as its new president, effective in October.

Sorajak will replace Piyasvasti Amranand, who was removed from his post by the state-run carrier’s board.

Sorajak is former chairman of the majority state-owned broadcaster MCOT.
