MTR $2 Fare Promotion for the Elderly extended to 31 August 2012
Elder Octopus cardholders can continue to enjoy paying a flat fare of $2 per journey when using the MTR on Wednesdays, Saturdays and public holidays (excluding Sundays). The MTR Corporation will be extending the promotion for another year from 1 September 2011 to 31 August 2012 when the current offer expires on 31 August 2011.
“The Corporation offers various fare promotions from time to time to encourage different passenger groups to enjoy our railway service,” said Ms Jeny Yeung, General Manager – Marketing & Station Commercial of the MTR Corporation. “With the $2 Fare Promotion, we are pleased to see that more elderly passengers seem to be getting out and about to participate in social and community activities.”
The flat fare of $2 is valid on any MTR journey (not including Airport Express, Light Rail, MTR Feeder Bus, MTR Bus, East Rail Line First Class, and journeys to and from Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations) on the days specified.
