IT glitch causes delays at British Airways

An IT glitch at British Airways has seen passengers delayed at UK airports.

Passengers at Gatwick and Heathrow were being checked-in using back-up systems with technicians working to resolve the issue.

A statement from the carrier said: “We are checking in customers at Heathrow and Gatwick Airports this morning, although it is taking longer than usual.

“We are sorry for the delay to their journeys.”

Customers were encouraged to check in online before they reach the airport.

On Monday customers in the US and Canada reported delays at several airports due to IT problems.

Earlier this year British Airways apologised to passengers who faced long delays at check-in at Heathrow and Gatwick.

That problem was attributed to check-in systems, where problems led to lengthy queues.
