Iberia Express adds new Cardiff departure ahead of Champions League final

Iberia Express has released its latest schedule of flights to Madrid one week early so that customers can make the most of this major sporting event that will see all eyes on the Welsh capital city. 

The news comes following the confirmation that Real Madrid will face Juventus in the UEFA Champions League Final.

The direct Cardiff–Madrid route will begin operating on Thursdays and Sundays from June 1st; with the addition of an extra flight which will depart on June 4th.

Madrid is an extremely popular destination for business travellers and tourists alike.

Famous for its art museums as well as its football teams, Madrid is also a shopper’s paradise, boasting both name-brand shops and independent establishments offering the highest quality at affordable prices.

Another attraction is Madrid’s gastronomy, with a wide variety, high quality and good value at the city’s many restaurants.

The new Iberia Express route will also offer its customers more destinations.

Trevor Martin, chief commercial officer of Iberia Express, said: “We are very excited to have a team from Madrid playing in the Champions League final; it’s quite an accomplishment that two Madrid teams have reached the semi-finals.

“This route shows our commitment to the British market, and will offer connectivity from Wales to many destinations via Iberia’s extensive network in Madrid.”
