FAIRMONT MONTE CARLO EARNS GREEN GLOBE CERTIFICATION FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Fairmont Monte Carlo, a landmark hotel in the Principality, has been awarded Green Globe certification for the third consecutive year.
This internationally recognized distinction acknowledges the hotel’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and the consistency of its environmental approach. A benchmark for luxury hospitality in the Mediterranean, Fairmont Monte Carlo is renowned not only for its exceptional location but also for its pioneering role in introducing seawater thermal energy technology to Monaco as early as 1975.

Having recently celebrated half a century in the Principality, the hotel continues in 2026 to advance a more sustainable model of development through a process of continuous improvement. As a signatory of Monaco’s Energy Transition Mission Pact, Fairmont Monte Carlo actively supports the Principality’s objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, compared with 1990 levels.
“Sustainability is not a separate initiative; it is an integral part of everything we do,” says Alexandre Ariel, General Manager of Fairmont Monte Carlo. “With 596 guest rooms, more than 5,000 square meters of event space, four restaurants, and one of the French Riviera’s largest catering operations, our responsibility is proportionate to our impact. This renewed Green Globe certification recognizes both the hotel’s long-term commitment and the dedication of our teams, whose daily efforts make this achievement possible.”

Fairmont Monte Carlo’s commitment is reflected in tangible actions, including the selection of partners who share the same sustainability standards, the elimination of single-use plastics, and the installation of photovoltaic panels and LED lighting throughout the property. Since 2025, the hotel’s seawater thermal energy facilities have also been connected to the Principality’s district energy network. Looking ahead to 2027, Fairmont Monte Carlo remains committed to pursuing new sustainability ambitions and driving continuous progress.
