Eurostar prepares for bumper bank holiday weekend

Eurostar is set for a busy August bank holiday weekend as over 142,000 passengers are expected to travel with the high-speed rail operator – an eight per cent rise in passenger numbers compared to the equivalent period in 2016.

Friday, August 25th is the busiest day for departures from the UK, with over 13,000 people travelling on this day alone, looking to make the most of long weekend.

Over 64,000 departures are expected from the UK across the four days.

Paris is the most popular destination, with over 24,000 Brits escaping the UK for a mini break in the French capital.

Mary Walsh, director of communications for Eurostar, commented: “We’re looking forward to welcoming passengers on board, as they set off for the August bank holiday weekend.”

With quick and convenient check-in, a seamless city-centre to city-centre journey, and a generous baggage allowance, Eurostar is the ideal way to travel to mainland Europe.

Passengers travelling on the new e320 train can sit back and unwind in more spacious surroundings and enjoy over 300 hours of entertainment – all streamed straight to their phone, tablet or laptop.
