Customer rental experience enhanced with industry-leading QR codes

Car rental customers now have 24/7 access to a virtual travel guide that can steer them to everything from local attractions to vehicle information, thanks to ONRAMP Concierge – a new mobile-optimized website launched by Enterprise Holdings.

The company –which owns and operates the Alamo Rent A Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental brands – is adding unique Quick Response (QR) codes to nearly 1 million rental vehicles by the end of December to give renters on-the-go access to the www.onramp.ehi.com site.

Enterprise Holdings is building on the success and innovation of its industry-first QR code pilot program last year, as recently noted in Bloomberg: “3 QR Codes People Actually Scan.” The company is now adding QR codes, as part of the ONRAMP Concierge program, to its entire rental fleet in the U.S. and Canada – the largest fleet in North America.

Car rental customers will use their smartphones to scan the QR codes, located on vehicle windows and key tags, to launch the ONRAMP Concierge site. They can then access information about the vehicle make and model they’ve rented, connect to geo-targeted websites, such as Yelp and GasBuddy, and take advantage of special Alamo, Enterprise and National offers.

“The ONRAMP Concierge site extends our industry-leading customer service beyond our branch location and the rental transaction. Our car rentals, typically ranging from 2 to 14 days, are often viewed as the perfect test drive,” said Matt Darrah, executive vice president, North American Operations. “ONRAMP adds value with easy, real-time access to vehicle information, offers popular location-based services to help customers find local restaurants and activities, as well as provides access to the latest rental deals from all three of our brands.”

As the car rental industry’s most comprehensive service provider, Enterprise Holdings’ worldwide network includes more than 7,700 neighborhood and airport locations, with 6,000 offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population – more than twice as many locations as the company’s nearest U.S. competitor. The network’s size and scope provide significant opportunities for the company’s auto manufacturing partners to introduce new vehicles and vehicle technologies to the driving public. Alamo, Enterprise and National customers have access to nearly 150 vehicle makes and models.

Through its unique rental network and portfolio of three major car rental brands, Enterprise Holdings processes approximately 1 million car rental transactions every week – the equivalent of nearly 1 million weekly test drives.

“Each car rental experience not only will provide access to ONRAMP Concierge conveniences, but also is an opportunity for our manufacturing partners to showcase their products and services,” said Kurt Kohler, senior vice president of Fleet for Enterprise Holdings. “This is an ideal platform to familiarize our customers with the vehicles they are renting and enable them to connect with our manufacturer and dealer partners.”
