Tiscover Takes Bournmouth to Next Level

Tiscover is pleased to announce that the Tiscover-powered website for the town of Bournemouth has won the ‘Best Website Award’ given by the British Resorts Association.
This accolade arrives just fourteen months after Tiscover won the contract to power Bournemouth’s entire web presence. Since its launch, the site boosted online bookings for the tourist board from 7% of total booking value to 50%, versus offline bookings within the tourist information centre and call centre. The average online booking value has also more than doubled since the town signed on with Tiscover in 2004.

Originally formed in 1921, the British Resorts Association is a national body that operates as a trade association representing the wider interest of local authority sponsored tourism. As a consequence the membership now includes local government authorities of all types and sizes from across much of the UK, regional and local tourist boards and commercial organisations, who are either suppliers of services to the public or to the industry itself.

The association recognised the Tiscover-powered site due to its easy-to-use features, multilingual capabilities and consumer friendly innovations.

Jon Weaver, marketing and events manager at Bournemouth Borough Council says: “Bournemouth is proud of this award-win and the goals we have achieved since we re-launched and re-powered our site through Tiscover in .”

Karsten Kärcher, executive director of Tiscover says: “Tiscover is thrilled by this acknowledgement of our services to Bournemouth and the British tourism industry. Since signing with Tiscover, online sales now accounts for half of Bournemouth’s booking revenues. With this accolade, the British Resorts Association is spurring us on to work to even greater heights - and both Tiscover and Bournemouth are predicting that revenues and visitor numbers will be even higher in 2005 compared to 2004 figures.”
