Lonely Planet Appoints New EMEA CEO

Lonely Planet’s Global Chief Executive Officer Judy Slatyer today announced the appointment of Mr Stephen Palmer as the new CEO for Lonely Planet’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) operations. Mr Palmer will take the helm at Lonely Planet’s London office on 12th September, 2005.
Mr Palmer has spent the last five years with EMAP, one of Europe’s largest media organisations. In his last role as Strategy Director and Managing Director for Emap Performance Interactive, Mr Palmer was responsible for developing Emap’s digital business across online, mobile, e-tail and digital broadcasting - currently the fastest growing Emap consumer business. Spearheading the move into digital media, Mr Palmer worked across a variety of consumer brands to take their content onto different media platforms. Prior to Emap, Mr Palmer spent twelve years with the Guardian Newspapers Ltd where he was Marketing Director.
