SumTotal Selected for Hilton University

SumTotal Systems, the industry’s largest provider of learning and business performance
technologies, services and processes, today announced that Hilton
International, one of the world’s leading hotel operators and owner of the
Hilton brand name outside of North America, has chosen the SumTotal
Enterprise Suite to increase the power and flexibility of Hilton
University, and to scale the enterprise-wide learning initiative to
support the learning and development needs of more than 70,000 employees
around the world. Hilton University is recognized as a world standard for management
development in the hospitality industry. Currently serving 8000 team
member, team leaders, departmental managers and general managers in 70
countries, the primary focus of Hilton University has been the Web-based
delivery of core management and skills development with the goal of
maintaining world-class customer service throughout the Hilton
International organization.

The key challenges for Hilton are to broaden the reach of Hilton
University to serve even more employees worldwide, to increase the
sophistication of the learning activities it offers and to more directly
link learning and skills development with the company’s business results.
Hilton will use the SumTotal Learner Management System to develop more
in-depth, blended learning programs, incorporating employee competencies
by job role and function, and aligning them with specific content and
business goals.

“The professionalism and product knowledge of SumTotal’s representatives,
as well as its impressive client list covering all business sectors, were
key factors for us in choosing a technology partner to help us expand
Hilton University,” said John Guthrie, Head of International Management
Development at Hilton International. “What sets Hilton apart is the
immense pride we take in the standards of service we deliver to all our
guests. SumTotal will help us measure the effectiveness of certain
training programs—for example in e-commerce and reservations—in
increasing customer satisfaction. We’ll also be able to evaluate general
management skills programs by looking for correlations between management
learning activities and team member satisfaction.”

“There are few industries whose success relies more heavily on the
delivery of quality customer service than the hospitality industry,” said
R. Andrew Eckert, SumTotal CEO. “That makes learning initiatives targeted
at improving customer satisfaction mission critical in organizations like
Hilton International. We are delighted to be helping Hilton build on the
success and industry leadership it has already achieved with Hilton
University. By working with Hilton to make its learning solution more
effective in producing skilled, proficient employees, SumTotal can also
help Hilton produce more satisfied customers, and, as a result,
accelerated business growth.”

The SumTotal Enterprise Suite combines the industry’s leading learning
management system (LMS), learning content management system (LCMS),
virtual classroom, analytics and other key learning and business
performance applications on a single, integrated platform. The
comprehensive suite, in combination with SumTotal’s world-class
professional services, help clients realize a higher system implementation
success rate, a lower total cost of ownership, an improved end-user
interface experience and better bottom-line business results.
