Gulf Air Participating in Leading MICE Exhibition

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi will be participating at IMEX 2004 as an exhibitor and hosted buyer.  IMEX, the meetings and incentive travel industry (MICE) exhibition for planners and suppliers from the conference, convention, corporate event and trade show industries, will take place in Frankfurt, Germany from 12 to 14 May 2004.
“Gulf Air recognises it has a key role to play in supporting the meetings and incentive travel industry,” said Mark Senior, Manager Destination Services at the airline.  “Group and incentive travel to this region is booming as it offers an outstanding combination for business and leisure travellers - from quality meeting facilities and outstanding service to relaxing beaches and cultural experiences - all with the best of authentic Arabian hospitality, culture and adventure.”

Gulf Air has invited 20 high profile meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition buyers to fly from Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and Thailand to experience this exciting event.  Buyers will first fly to Bahrain, one of the airline’s three hubs, each of which offers a unique range of activities for even the most discerning incentive buyer.  During the stopover buyers will experience the thrills of the Bahrain International Circuit, home of the recent Gulf Air Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix.

After IMEX, Gulf Air’s guests can choose an optional stopover in the Sultanate of Oman or the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, on their way home. Oman, a hidden treasure in the Gulf has spectacular mountain scenery, stunning beaches and colourful marine life. The Sultanate offers a different angle on an incentive trip to the Arabian Gulf.  Guests can enjoy everything that the region is famous for, luxury hotels and warm sunshine, as well as exploring the mountains, wadis (dry river beds) and much more.

Abu Dhabi, the vibrant capital city of the UAE, has some of the best facilities, with an abundance of excellent restaurants, cinemas and shopping malls. For incentive travellers Abu Dhabi has numerous attractions including sandy beaches, blue seas with abundant marine life, beautiful deserts and rugged mountains.

At IMEX Gulf Air will be promoting its Arabian Experience Destination Services (AEDS) programme that was developed in conjunction with the governments of Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Oman who have placed an emphasis on preserving the heritage and culture of their respective countries, whilst developing an infrastructure that promotes and supports tourism.

AEDS provides incentive organisers with a wide range of creative options for hosting an event in the region such as pearl diving in Bahrain, motor sports at the Bahrain International Circuit or a treasure hunt from Abu Dhabi through to Oman.
