Best Western Kaiserhof gets Green Globe status
BEST WESTERN PREMIER Hotel Kaiserhof in Vienna, Austria has become the first hotel in Austria to receive the internationally-renowned Green Globe Certificate.
BEST WESTERN PREMIER Kaiserhof’s Director, Anton Christian Greiderer, said: “I am very proud to receive the Green Globe seal for the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Kaiserhof as the first property in Austria. We are committed to offering sustainable services to our guests and conserving resources for future generations. Protection of the environment has played an important role in our company for a long time, but until now we have not gone through an independent audit and received an award, which means a lot to us. I would like to thank my dedicated team, which contributed so much to achieving this ambitious goal.”
“Green Globe Certification is so important to us because it is an internationally-recognized system that not only covers environmental aspects of sustainability management but also social and cultural responsibilities. We thank the Green Globe team for the excellent support of our hotel during this important time and process,” added Mr. Greiderer.
Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Guido Bauer, said: “BEST WESTERN PREMIER Kaiserhof is a beautiful hotel with a rich tradition. Built in 1896, the hotel ranked as one of the most modern hotels of its day, offering such novel conveniences – in the 19th century – as an elevator, central heating, electricity, and running water in all rooms. Today, the hotel is Austria’s pioneer in certified sustainability management, with initiatives to reduce the use of water and energy, as well as waste management and separation systems in place.”
In addition, the hotel offers information about its “green” procedures in a brochure for guests, and a sustainability management book explains procedures and responsibilities in detail, providing transparency for employees and customers. Rooms feature information about responsible use of towels and air conditioning, which automatically turns off when windows are opened. With its central location in the city center, the hotel also encourages the use of public transportation, offers tickets for tram lines, suggests the use of bikes and electronically-operated cabs, and provides discounted public transportation passes to employees.
