Austrian Airlines restructures technical operations division

Austrian Airlines is implementing another measure as part of its restructuring of the company. We shall be comprehensively restructuring the Technical Operations Division, and reorienting it on the basis of completely revised processes. The aim of this move is to increase productivity and raise cost efficiency in the long term. The new organisational structure of the Technical Operations Division/TD will come into force on 1 March 2010.

The core of Technical Operations at the Vienna site will be the Aircraft Maintenance (TDM), Supply Chain (TDL), Engineering (TDE) and Quality & Safety Management (TDQ) Departments, which will concentrate on the technical maintenance of the jet fleet of the Austrian Group in future. This will be complemented by functions such as various different workshops, Technical Training, and Base Maintenance (aircraft reconditioning), which will now be brought under one roof in the Airframe Maintenance & Workshops Department (TDW). Base maintenance will be plainly reduced and third-party business abandoned. We are currently looking into the possibility of outsourcing these complementary functions to a dedicated company, which would enable us to present the costs more transparently.

Technical Operations will be supported by a strengthened Service Purchasing Division (ERO) to ensure the best possible conditions for all additionally purchased services.
