Azran Osman-Rani, CEO of AirAsia X said, “This is indeed a milestone for us. In less than 4 years, with just one destination to the Gold Coast, Australia in November 2007,  to 15 destinations to date, we have flown over 5 million guests across 10 countries around the world. This amazing achievement would not have been possible without the support from our guests. By tapping the underserved market, AirAsia X has created a whole new option for travelers in the region using Kuala Lumpur as a gateway into ASEAN, which is complemented by our short-haul affiliate, AirAsia’s extensive route network in the region. Likewise, guests from ASEAN may tap on AirAsia X network to Europe, Australia, Japan, Korea, India and more. We expect passenger numbers to multiply within the next two years once the airline takes delivery of its five new Airbus A330s which will be deployed to new destinations across Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Azran added, “The record performance speaks volume for our model and has indeed proved that we are heading towards the right direction of a global shift towards Low Cost Carriers (LCC) today. We are pleased that people around the world are more supportive towards LCCs today and have come to believe that affordable travel does not mean low quality.”

In addition to our low fare offerings, AirAsiaGo, our online travel portal is also offering unbelievable package deals which include affordable 3 nights hotel stay coupled with return flights from as low as RM719 all taxes included on www.AirAsiaGo.com. The booking period for this promotion begins from 4 July – 8 July 2011 for immediate travel from 4 July 2011 – 31 May 2012.
