Cape Town Tourism launches next generation site

The beautiful city of Cape Town, voted “Africa’s Leading Destination” at the World Travel Awards, now has a beautiful website to showcase its world-class natural and cultural attractions.

The new www.capetown.travel site blends cutting-edge design with user-friendly navigation. It all features all the very latest in social networking, blogging, plus some great trip-planning functionality.A particualarly welcome aspect is how the site makes a bold break from the run-of-the-mill, commercial snaps by publishing works and portfolios of some excellent photographers. One of its Flickr photo essays given an insight to township life.

The Top 100 provides an excellent snapshot of Cape Town and surroundings, covering both the classic itineraries and more unusual, off-beat adventures. Entries include a trip to Table Mountain Cableway, Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was embrisoned).

Each entry however is more than that - it’s a whole portal about what to see and do, with lots of Flickr pix.

Blaauwberg Beach and Kite Surfing is one of the featured attractions.

The social-networking includes Facebook, Twitter and Tripadvisor.
