Wizz Air heads for Gran Canaria as flying returns
Wizz Air has seen its first flight from London Luton take off for Gran Canaria at airlines enter the post-Covid-19 world.
Known for its diverse ecosystems and landscape of mountains, pine forests and sandy beaches stretching over 60 kilometres, Gran Canaria is often referred to as a ‘miniature continent’.
It is the first of five new Spanish sun destinations to be flown by Wizz Air from London Luton this year, with flights to Fuerteventura, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca starting in July and Lanzarote in October.
Owain Jones, managing director of Wizz Air UK, said: “We are delighted to be offering UK passengers yet another exciting and affordable travel opportunity, this time to the year-round sun destination Gran Canaria, the ideal island for both family trips and travellers seeking adventure.
“As we look forward to travel restrictions easing, passengers can say ‘yes to flying’ and yes to their summer holiday, with Wizz leading the way with enhanced health and hygiene measures to protect both passengers and crew.
“We look forward to welcoming passengers on board our new, green and ultra-efficient aircraft fleet.”
