Qatar Airways steps up capacity on Vienna route
Qatar Airways is upgrading services on its Vienna route with the introduction of an A330 aircraft. The upgrade from an A320 to the A330 aircraft will commence on September 1, 2014.
Vienna Airport passenger number drops in January
The number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport fell by 1.7% year-on-year to 1,374,156 in January 2013. This decline resulted, above all, from unusually heavy snowstorms in eastern Austria on 17 January 2013 and the resulting massive impact on the entire area as well as the related limitations on air travel throughout Europe because of the severe winter weather at airports throughout the region.
Vienna to enter Russia with new hotel with wellness and medical spa
The Astrum luxury hotel will open in Shelkovo near Moscow at the end of 2013. Owner of the property is Shelkowskij Holding, while management of the hotel will be in the hands of Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG (VI). Already one year before its grand opening, the 5-star luxury hotel has been accepted for membership in The Leading Hotels of the World as one of the world’s best hotels on the Russian luxury hotel market. With a 3,400 m² spa and a 1,900 m² conference area, the hotel’s focus is clearly on Vienna International’s two greatest strengths: wellness holidays and conference tourism.

The number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport rose by 8.6% year-on-year to 1,700,590 in March 2012.
