Cautious optimism for Fort Lauderdale tourism following Hurricane Irma
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau has advised the destination is no longer under any weather watches, warnings or advisories following Hurricane Irma. The Florida east coast destination fared well as the storm moved away from the area in a more south-westerly direction on Sunday, and winds began to lessen.

Aer Lingus boosts North America capacity for winter 2017
Aer Lingus has announced its winter schedule, with the airline set to offer 300,000 additional seats to Europe and North America as part of its largest ever deployment. Soon to begin its direct service on September 1st, Aer Lingus will operate three flights per week to Miami, Florida, a new long-haul destination for winter.

The Bradenton Area on Florida’s West Coast has opened its newest luxury hotel, the Zota Beach Resort. Formerly the Hilton Longboat Key, the $24 million property offers a secluded beachfront setting, stylish pool area, contemporary restaurant and a chic wine bar.
American Duchess prepares for New Orleans debut
The new all-suite, 166-guest American Duchess, has arrived in New Orleans to undergo final preparations for her August 14th inaugural sailing. The American Duchess is owned and operated by the American Queen Steamboat Company and the luxurious paddlewheeler will join the American Queen and American Empress to become the third vessel of the riverboat company.
Saudia sees laptop ban lifted on US flights
Saudia Arabian flag-carrier Saudia has said passengers will now be allowed to carry laptops on flights to the US. The news comes after the country’s airports received security clearance from the department of homeland security in the United States.
Primera Air set to launch direct US flights from London Stansted
Primera Air is to open a new base at London Stansted and start direct flights to New York and Boston Logan next year. From April 2018, the airline will offer daily services to New York’s Newark Airport and four a week to Boston Logan Airport from May.
Norwegian UK granted tentative US air carrier permit
Norwegian has confirmed its British subsidiary, Norwegian UK, has been given tentative approval by the United States department of transportation for a foreign air carrier permit. The approval reaffirms that the NUK application is in full compliance with the EU–US Open Skies Agreement.
Norwegian to launch new flights to Chicago and Austin in spring 2018
Norwegian has announced two new US routes from London Gatwick with flights now on sale to Chicago and Austin. The announcement comes as the airline celebrates the third anniversary since it first launched low-cost long-haul services from Gatwick.

The United States ban on carrying laptops in aircraft cabins has been lifted “immediately” from Emirates Airlines.
Etihad Airways passengers allowed laptops on US flights
Passengers on Etihad Airways flights out of Abu Dhabi to the United States will be able to use larger gadgets, such as laptops, during their journey. Regulations requiring passengers to put laptops and other gadgets in baggage in the hold were introduced in March.
