Ahead of the ski season in the French Alps this February half-term, Uber has launched a service that means guests can get from station to ski resort quickly and easily.

Uber has begun a court case in London as it seeks to renew its operator licence. Officials in the capital last year refused to renew the licence on grounds of public safety and security, a decision which Uber subsequently appealed against.

Softbank is set to take a large stake in ride hailing app Uber, expanding its holdings in transportation companies around the globe. The Japanese investment giant led a consortium to take an $8 billion stake in the taxi frim.

Transport for London has informed Uber that it will not be issued with a private hire operator licence after expiry of its current licence on September 30th. The decision means as many as 40,000 Uber operated cars could be removed from the city’s streets in little over a week.

Jet Airways has announced a strategic association with online transportation network Uber. With this first-of-its kind initiative in the Indian aviation space, Jet Airways’ guests will be able to request their Uber when booking a ticket on the Jet Airways app.

Uber has agreed to sell its Chinese business to rival Didi Chuxing. The taxi-booking app will retain separate branding in the country, with Uber also taking a 5.9 per cent stake in the combined company. Didi Chuxing - which is backed by internet giants Tencent and Alibaba - dominates the taxi-booking sector in China with nearly 90 per cent of the market.
