Travellers who post fake TripAdvisor hotel reviews are to be given a two-week amnesty to remove them or face legal action as well as being named and shamed. Kwikchex, a reputation-management company that represents more than 800 hotels and restaurants, says that next month it will publish a list of “thousands” of reviewers it suspects of posting fraudulent and defamatory comments.

Online travel giant TripAdvisor has acquired holidaylettings.co.uk as the company seeks to continue its expansion into the vacation rental marketplace. TripAdvisor – which is in turn owned by Expedia – purchased the site from property specialist Rightmove for an undisclosed sum.
