Travelodge has opened its new flagship hotel at Layerthorpe, York. The company’s fifth hotel in the city also marks Travelodge being crowned York’s largest branded hotel provider in the city.
Travelodge has launched new SuperRooms, bringing the premium economy concept familiar to airline users to the UK budget hotel market. This new class of room, the first of its kind in the UK budget hotel market, dials up the comfort factor with a concept designed especially for business and leisure customers who want the extra choice of a more premium room.
Travelodge has opened the first branded hotel in Peterhead, Scotland, the first of three hotel openings for the company in the destination this year. The other two include a 74-room hotel in Stirling and a 54-room Travelodge in Inverness.

Travelodge has opened its first hotels in Andover. The purpose built 76-room hotel which features a Bar Café and onsite car-parking is situated at Andover Business Park, next door to the British Army Land Forces Headquarters.
Travelodge has presented Milton Keynes with a new herd of life-size cows to celebrate its 18th anniversary in the town and the opening of its fourth MK hotel. The original Milton Keynes world-famous concrete cows, which were created in 1978 by Canadian artist, Liz Leyh were moo-ved earlier this year from their town centre home to the MK museum.
Travelodge has appointed Jonathan Greensted to the newly-created position of chief technology officer. Greensted will report directly to the chief executive, Peter Gowers. Within his new role he will be responsible for ensuring innovative technology drives the business forward, through the development of the company’s customer-facing and internal technology applications.
Travelodge will open 19 new hotels in 2016, with an investment value of £140 million. This expansion is expected to create 450 new jobs and increase the company’s network to 542 hotels.
Independent hotel chain Travelodge has partnered with hospitality technology firm, Monscierge to develop a series of technology platforms to help the customer journey, from planning right through to checking-out and sharing their hotel experience socially.
Travelodge is capitalising on its strong performance with the 2015 opening of 15 new hotels across the UK, with an investment value of almost £100 million. The openings will include properties in Glasgow, Southampton, Bristol and the Thames Valley and four in London
Travelodge launched a new £25 million advertising campaign to inspire Britain to get up and go. The campaign, which is the biggest advertising spend to date for the company features scenes shot across Britain and highlights the new Travelodge look, being delivered through a £57 million hotel modernisation programme. This includes the installation of more than 37,000 new bespoke king size Travelodge Dreamer beds.
