China’s golfing future came into sharp focus at the third edition of the Mission Hills - St Andrews: Home to Home Scholarship Fundraising Championship. Underlining Mission Hills’ commitment to grow the game, the event was inaugurated in 2013 when St Andrews University was celebrating its 600th anniversary.
Golf drives Scottish tourism to ever greater heights
The monthly LJ Forecaster Scottish Intercity Report has revealed a positive performance in Edinburgh, an expected decline in Glasgow – one year on from the Commonwealth Games – and sustained losses in Aberdeen. As the summer festival season began to take hold, Edinburgh hoteliers achieved the highest room occupancy with a staggering 91.6 per cent of hotel rooms sold in July 2015.
World Golf Awards signs Portugal Golf Membership as 2015 partner
Visits to the UK in the first half of 2015 are 16.8 million, the highest recorded over the first six months of any year showing a five per cent increase over 2014. In addition, visits to the UK by overseas visitors are three per cent higher in the twelve months to June 2015 compared to the previous twelve month period at 34.9 million. In June the UK welcomed 3.23 million visitors, in line with the record set in June 2014.
Bermuda Tourism Authority comes on-board as America’s Cup sponsor
The Bermuda Tourism Authority has become an Official Partner of the 35th America’s Cup. This will significantly boost the island’s tourism effort over the two years of America’s Cup racing around the world during the “Race to Bermuda,” where the final weeks of America’s Cup competition will be held in May/June of 2017.Sailing is foundational to Bermuda’s heritage and hospitality is core to its people.
Marriott International signs on for NBA Global Games
Marriott International and the National Basketball Association have signed a partnership that makes the global lodging company the Official Hotel of several marquee NBA events around the world. The deal includes the NBA Global Games 2015-16, NBA Africa Game 2015, and NBA Canada Series 2015. Marriott is the first company to partner with the NBA across international games on five different continents.
Tour de France boosts Yorkshire tourism
New figures from VisitBritain have revealed the north England county of Yorkshire saw significant benefits from hosting the Tour de France in 2014. Some 2.5 million sports fans turned out to watch the Grand Départ of the world’s biggest bike race in July last year. VisitEngland added tourists had spent £380 million in Yorkshire in the 12 months to June.
Emirates launches Arsenal FC branded plane
Emirates, official partner of Arsenal Football Club, has unveiled its first plane to feature the club’s branding as the team fly out for the start of the summer tour to Singapore this week. The Gunners arrived in style on an Emirates B777-200LR chartered aircraft that has been specially designed for their Arsenal Singapore 2015 visit.
IAGTO to work with Brand USA to boost golf tourism
Brand USA – the destination-marketing organization for the United States – is partnering with the International Association of Golf Tour Operators to raise the profile of American golf-related tourism among global travellers. IAGTO, headquartered in London, is an advocate for nearly 600 golf tour operators in 61 countries. It also works with a network of close to 2,400 association members in 99 countries that are tied to golf tourism in order to develop optimal golfing experiences at golf destinations around the world.
Delta Air Lines renews partnership with Chelsea FC
Delta Air Lines has inked a new three-year deal with Chelsea Football Club as the club’s official airline sponsor, again bringing together two major international brands. Delta and Chelsea FC, the English Premier League and Capital One Cup champions, first joined forces in 2012 and since then have worked together to bring the airline’s 170 million annual passengers closer to the club.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car to sponsor UEFA Europa League
Enterprise Rent-A-Car has signed a three-year agreement with UEFA to become an official worldwide sponsor of the UEFA Europa League beginning with the 2015/16 season. The sponsorship covers every stage of the competition from group stage matches through to the Final - a total of 205 games that will reach millions of viewers across Europe.

Omni Hotels teams with Atlanta Braves for new Cobb County property
The Atlanta Braves and Omni Hotels & Resorts are partnering to develop a new hotel in the mixed used development adjacent to SunTrust Park in Cobb County. The luxurious Omni property will be a full-service hotel and will serve as a cornerstone of the mixed-use community. The Omni Atlanta Hotel at SunTrust Park will feature 16 floors, approximately 260 finely appointed guest rooms and suites, rooftop hospitality suites, approximately 12,500 square feet of meeting space, an elevated pool deck and bar overlooking the plaza and ballpark, and a signature restaurant.
