A Singapore Airlines (SIA) Airbus A380 superjumbo, which was en route to Frankfrurt, was forced to turn around after an engine problem was reported by crew. This is the latest in a string of engine problems for the world’s biggest passenger plane.

Singapore Airlines to wave goodbye to Boeing 747 after 40 years
Singapore Airlines will operate special commemorative flights between Singapore and Hong Kong on April 6th 2012 to mark the retirement of the Boeing 747 after nearly four decades of service. Flight SQ747 from Singapore to Hong Kong and SQ748 from Hong Kong to Singapore will be operated with the B747-400, replacing existing flights SQ860 and SQ863, which are normally operated with Airbus A330-300s.
Singapore Airlines Cargo links with Boeing for maintenance deal
Boeing and Singapore Airlines Cargo, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, have announced they have entered into a maintenance, engineering, and planning agreement. As a result, Boeing will provide GoldCare coverage for the cargo carrier’s fleet of 13 Boeing 747-400 Freighters.

Singapore Airlines to offer A380 service to Frankfurt and New York
Singapore Airlines has confirmed its Airbus A380 service is now flying to Frankfurt and New York, with the inaugural Singapore – Frankfurt – New York service having departed Singapore shortly after midnight. With more than 450 customers on board, flight SQ26 is scheduled to make its inaugural touchdown in Frankfurt at 06:10 local time.

Singapore Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines have agreed to boost air services between Singapore and destinations in Scandinavia - including with direct flights to the Swedish capital Stockholm. Under a memorandum of understanding signed earlier, the Star Alliance partners plan to co-operate on existing as well as new flights.

Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia outline first steps of alliance
Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia have announced the first two milestones of their recently approved alliance: new international and domestic routes to Darwin and the launch of frequent flyer programme co-operation. As part of a joint plan to increase services to northern Australia, Singapore Airlines’ regional full service airline, SilkAir, will begin a four-times-weekly service between Singapore and Darwin from March 26th 2012, and Virgin Australia will complement these services with a daily service between Sydney and Darwin from April 2nd 2012 .
