Singapore Airlines calls in creative talent for new cabin product
Singapore Airlines has appointed two world-renowned design firms - BMW Group subsidiary DesignworksUSA, and UK and Singapore-based James Park Associates – to help develop the next generation of in-flight cabin products that will be introduced from the second half of next year. The appointment of the international design consultants is in line with SIA’s intention to remain at the forefront of airline product innovation, with the world’s best in-flight products in all classes of travel.

Singapore Airlines outlines winter flight schedule
Singapore Airlines will be making network adjustments during the Northern Winter operating season, comprising capacity increases on several routes, reductions on others and seasonal aircraft changes. The adjustments – which will run from October 28th 2012 until March 30th 2013 - are in line with efforts to redeploy capacity to markets where demand is stronger.
Singapore Airlines-parent sees profits rise
The SIA Group has posted a net profit of $78 million in the first quarter of the 2012 financial year, up 73 per cent from the same period of 2011. Group operating profit of $72 million improved $61 million, albeit off a low base as the group was confronted with higher fuel costs and depressed demand following the Japanese earthquake in the same quarter last year.

The chief executives of Singapore Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines, Goh Choon Phong and Rickard Gustafson, have signed a joint venture agreement. The move follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed in January this year and covers routes between Singapore and Scandinavia.

Singapore Airlines to operate commemorative A380 services to Osaka in August
Singapore Airlines’ customers travelling to Osaka this August are in for a special treat. The Airline will be celebrating 40 years of direct services between Singapore and Osaka by operating daily Airbus A380 flights from 10 to 15 August 2012. The special daily A380 service, which replaces an existing daily Airbus A330 service, will be the first A380 commercial flight to Kansai International Airport.
SilkAir joins Singapore Airlines to offer 10 weekly flights to Hanoi
SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will begin three times weekly services to Hanoi. Together with Singapore Airlines’ daily flights to Vietnam’s capital, both airlines will offer a total of 10 round-trip services a week. SilkAir will operate its flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Singapore Airlines waves 747 into retirement
Singapore Airlines has bid farewell to its Boeing 747 passenger fleet, with special commemorative flights between Singapore and Hong Kong. Flight SQ747 departed Singapore’s Changi Airport at 08:30 after a series of celebratory events at Gate B7 in Terminal 3.
