Qantas has confirmed it will restart Airbus A380 operations on Saturday, some three weeks after an engine blow-out caused the Australian airline to ground its fleet. Qantas Flight QF32 was forced to make an emergency landing in Singapore earlier this month following an explosion in one of its four Rolls Royce Trent 900 engines.

Human ingenuity may have been all that saved Qantas Flight QF32 earlier this month, according to the Australian and International Pilots Association. The Airbus A380 aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in Singapore after one of its four Rolls-Royce engines disintegrated on takeoff.
Replacement engines ordered for A380 fleet
Plans are being drawn up to replace as many as 40 Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines on Airbus A380 aircraft around the world, according to Australian airline Qantas. The superjumbos have come under the spotlight in recent weeks following an engine failure on Qantas Flight QF32 which forced the aircraft into an emergency landing in Singapore.

Two further Qantas aircraft have been hit by safety concerns in the past 24 hours, with one forced to abort a journey from Johannesburg to Sydney. The incidents bring the total to five in the past two weeks at Qantas, with four planes forced to make forced landings.

Rolls Royce has isolated a single component it believes is responsible for problems with its Trent 900 engine. Engine failure on a Trent 900 was responsible for an emergency landing by A380 Qantas flight QF32 on November 4th in Singapore, with the British manufacturer launching an investigation.

A Boeing 747-400 operated by Qantas has been forced to make an emergency landing in Singapore – the second aircraft from the carrier to do so in two days. The aircraft – on route to Sydney - turned back shortly after take-off from Changi Airport, airline officials said.
