Qantas is set to unveil its new brand campaign, based on a concept of what the national carrier has been doing for almost 100 years – bringing people home. The ‘Feels Like Home’ series tells the real stories of five Qantas passengers and their journey home to Australia being welcomed at the airport by loved ones.
Qantas begins work on new business lounge in Perth
Qantas has begun construction on its new Domestic Business Lounge at Perth Airport to coincide with the airline’s move to a dedicated Qantas precinct in 2015. The new lounge will add 30 per cent more lounge capacity into the Perth market and will be available to Qantas business class customers, Platinum and Platinum One Frequent Flyers.
Qantas sounds upbeat note despite historic losses
Qantas has filed a $AUS2.8 billion loss for the 12 months to June 30th, the biggest ever annual deficit at the carrier. The Australian flag-carrier said the majority of the losses were down to an AUS$2.6 billion write-down on the value of its international fleet.
LAN expands codeshare operations with Qantas
LAN, a member of LATAM Airlines Group, and Qantas, both members of the oneworld airline alliance, have reinforced their codeshare agreement and will begin offering flights within Oceania and South America. Passengers flying with LAN from Santiago de Chile to Sydney will have access via Qantas to a broad network of cities in Australia: Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, Perth, Darwin, Hobart and Alice Springs.
Qantas flies back into Great Barrier Reef Airport
Qantas has begun direct services between Sydney and the Great Barrier Reef Airport broadening travel options for Sydney and international customers heading to the Whitsundays. The Australian carrier will operate three flights a week on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday during peak season and bi-weekly services on Wednesday and Sunday off peak.
Qantas revises schedule for London-Dubai A380 services
Qantas has launched its new A380 schedule between Dubai and London, commencing July 21st 2014. Starting in time for the European summer, Qantas Flight QF9 will now depart Dubai International Airport at 09:10, offering customers a lunch time arrival into London. The current timetable has both A380 services to London departing within an hour of each other.

Qantas signs on with Bangkok Airways to improve Asia connections
Qantas has announced a new codeshare agreement with Bangkok Airways which will significantly improve travel options for Qantas customers travelling across south-east Asia. From March 30th, Qantas customers will be able to book on Bangkok Airways services from Bangkok and Singapore to six new destinations in Thailand, including Ko Samui, Chiang Mai and Phuket.
Qantas to cut 5,000 jobs as battle for survival continues
Australian airline Qantas has said it will be forced to cut 5,000 jobs as it seeks to turn its fortunes around. The struggling carrier reported an underlying pre-tax loss of A$252m for the six months to the end of December.
