AirlineRatings.com, the world’s only safety and product rating website, has announced its top ten safest airlines for 2013 from the 448 it monitors. Top of the list is Qantas which has a fatality free record in the jet era - since 1951.

There was more bad news for Qantas today as shares in the company fell by more than 15 per cent following the announcement of a profit warning and further job losses. The airline said trading conditions had seen a “marked deterioration” amid tougher competition and slowing demand, with a further 1,000 jobs now to be cut.

Qantas and Tourism Western Australia will launch a major new marketing campaign to promote the airline’s services to Perth and the Qantas Walkabout Pass. The three-year global agreement between Tourism Western Australia and Qantas, worth $7.65 million, is a co-operative marketing agreement in which campaigns will be rolled out to attract thousands of visitors to Western Australia.
