Qantas launches new Group Travel website in UK
Qantas has launched the new Qantas Group Travel website in the UK, enabling a simpler system for travel agents to process group travel bookings to Dubai, Australia and beyond. The first for any airline in Australia, the Qantas Group Travel website will be available to all UK based travel agents holding a valid IATA number, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Qantas returns to black for first time since financial crisis
Qantas has announced its strongest profit since before the global financial crisis, a $505 million capital return to shareholders and a Boeing 787 Dreamliner order to start a new era for Qantas International. For the 12 months to June 20th, the Australian flag-carrier reported an underlying profit before tax of $975 million and a statutory profit before tax of $789 million.
Qantas appoints Rockpool sommeliers on international routes
Qantas has announced a new team of wine experts and mixologists from the Rockpool Restaurant Group who will select wine, Champagne, spirits and other beverages for Qantas domestic and international flights and lounges. The new team, named The Qantas Rockpool Sommeliers, features 16 highly experienced sommeliers and mixologists.
Qantas to add HBO content to in-flight entertainment
Qantas has partnered with one of the world’s most successful TV services, HBO, to bring customers hundreds of hours of the most talked about programmes on screens around the world. The deal covers everything from current series like True Detective and Game of Thrones to classic favourites like The Sopranos and Sex and The City.
Qantas to give staff A$90m bonus as profits recover
Qantas Airways will pay staff a one-off bonus of A$90 to employees affected by an 18-month wage freeze. More than 28,000 employees will receive a bonus, including those at low-cost subsidiary Jetstar. The deal is part of the workers’ collective agreement, Qantas said on Friday.
Qantas smarts after Hong Kong rejects Jetstar application
Qantas Group has said it will work with its fellow shareholders in Jetstar Hong Kong to review the enterprise, following the Air Transport Licensing Authority’s decision to reject the local carrier’s application to establish an operation in Hong Kong. Jetstar Hong Kong – a joint venture between Shun Tak Holdings, China Eastern Airlines and the Qantas Group – was announced in March 2012.
Qantas resumes Perth-Singapore service
Qantas is returning to the Perth-Singapore route as part of a number of improvements for West Australian travellers. From 26 June Qantas will operate five return Boeing 737 Perth-Singapore services each week – a total of almost 1700 seats.
Qantas first Boeing 747-400 goes on permanent display in Australia
Qantas’ first Boeing 747-400, celebrated for having flown the longest commercial flight in history from London to Sydney, made its shortest and final journey earlier from Sydney to Illawarra Regional Airport in New South Wales. After less than 15 minutes in flight, Qantas’ B747 touched down at 07:47 and was delivered to its new home with the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society where it will become the only B747-400 in the world to be put on public display.
Qantas reveals strong results for six months to December
Qantas today reported a statutory profit after tax of $206 million for the six months ended December 31st. This is Qantas’ best first-half performance since 2010 and an improvement of $619 million compared with the same period last year. The main factors in the underlying improvement were the $374 million Qantas gained from its Transformation programme, with there was also $208 million in reduced depreciation.
Qantas woos international passengers with improved economy catering
Qantas has unveiled details of its new in-flight dining offering, which is set to re-define the travel experience for international Economy customers when it rolls out across the network from next week. Customers will enjoy a wider choice of meals, fifty per cent larger servings and faster service.
